A man passed the elephants.  He stopped and realized that these huge creatures were being held only by a small rope tied to a leg. No chains, no cages.  It was obvious that the elephants could break away from their bonds. For some reason, they did not.

A trainer was nearby, and  he asked why these extremely powerful animals just stood there making no attempts to get away.  “Well, when they are very young and smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them. As they age, it isn’t enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe that they cannot break away. Believing that the rope could still hold them, they never tried to break free” the trainer said.

The man was amazed! The elephants could break free at any time from their bonds.  They believed they couldn’t move.  They were stuck right where they were.

How many of us go through life hanging onto the belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

Failure is part of learning; don’t give up the struggle in life to do more and be successful.
